FROM READINGS TO UNDERSTANDING
Get to know your tank.
Compare temperature changes with available sunlight and discover how your tank behaves overnight. Water use, backup heating and thermal delay all play a part.
Sunlight correlation
—Association between hourly collector-plane radiation and tank warming. Needs 6 well-covered hours. Correlation does not measure efficiency.
Low-sun warming
—Median temperature change with 5–150 W/m² radiation. At least 3 paired hours are needed.
Collection quality
—Successful and failed polls in your selected time range.
Incoming sunlight power
—Based on the latest hourly weather estimate and gross collector area.
Next 24h incoming sunlight
—Provisional gross area · not heat delivered to the tank.
What the numbers mean
Strong-sun warming uses hours with at least 300 W/m² estimated on the tilted collector plane. The assumed tilt affects these comparisons; collector count does not multiply W/m². Incoming sunlight power multiplies W/m² by the combined gross area; the next-24h estimate integrates that incoming energy. Gross dimensions include frame and gaps, so these are provisional incident-sunlight estimates, not thermal output or efficiency. Roof shading and evacuated-tube optical performance are not modelled. Nighttime cooling uses hours below 5 W/m² with a negative temperature change. Each group needs 3 paired hours. Net stored heat assumes a uniform tank temperature; a single internal sensor cannot account for stratification. This estimate is not total solar production. Temperature predictions need additional history and are not included.
